The Simpsons: Hit & Run has just been remade using Unreal Engine 5 by the YouTuber Reubs. This cult classic was originally released back in 2003 for PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, and PC.
The Simpsons: Hit & Run is an open-world game allowing players to control various characters from the iconic TV show and explore the town of Springfield. The game was well-received for its entertaining storyline, fun missions, and of course freedom of exploration. The remastered version by Reubs improves upon the original in several different ways including updated graphics and improved controls.
Reubs attracted no small amount of attention last year for having recreated most of the game in less than a week. The developer has been constantly improving upon their previous work over the course of the intervening months, introducing new models, physics, and missions. Many have been referring to the remake as a tribute to the original game, a true labor of love.
This remake of The Simpsons: Hit & Run is of course not officially licensed, Reubs noting how they plan to continue updating and improving the game, but explaining that a playable version will most likely never be released. The project is on the other hand a remarkable achievement and a testament to the power of passion and determination. The developer has brought a classic game back to life and has reignited the excitement and enjoyment that so many people felt when they first played The Simpsons: Hit & Run. This remastered version is definitely worth checking out.
